Higgs Construction Ltd has completed a number of high profile projects in the past that you would be familiar with such as the rebuild of Knox Church, All Souls Church, Rose Chapel, Tait Communications New Head Office, St Georges Hospital Redevelopment, the Canon Wilford Wing at St Georges Hospital, the Lyttleton Tunnel Control Building and many other projects.
As a business we have established numerous relationships over time. These relationships leading us to being selected as a preferred contractor on many occasions, ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) engagements or in a negotiated manner. Repeat business is a huge part of our business which has allowed us to focus less on the tender market.
We are able to offer assistance in all aspects of construction, not only with your proposed building works but also in other areas, such as advice in relation to efficient construction techniques and costing information. We are well aware of the design and cost restraints that are placed on building owners / developers and would like to assist you with your proposed development projects. We have a number of client’s that we have completed projects for in the past were our costing information and suggested changes to designed elements and details have enable the projects to meet budget requirements allowing them to be built. The Rangi Ruru Grils School Atawhai Sports Centre, Tait Communications Head Office Building and the Landscape Architecture Building at Lincoln University are examples of this.

Quality Assurance
Higgs Construction has a quality assurance system that ensures tasks are completed in a co-ordinated fashion and that the expected level of finish is met. With our work as the main contractor and with the work of our subcontractors, we establish quality procedures for the various construction elements prior to the commencement of work. An assurance is sought from subcontractors prior to their commencement, with reviews during the construction phase and a final inspection prior to our seeking practical completion.
Our philosophy on Quality Assurance is to make the system simple to implement as we have found that the more complicated you make it, the less effective is the out come. Over the years there has been a lot of emphasis put on making Quality Assurance procedures more comprehensive and including more detail. This emphasis has been pushed onto contractors by those who believe that comprehensive detailed Quality Assurance plans will work. Quality assurance plans need to be workable and easily understood by the trades people undertaking the tasks on site.
